Writing is an Art Form
Writing is something that is essential to one's own needs. The act of writing for me is something that is necessary to my survival in this world. At a young age, we start to do the basics like learning the alphabets and forming words that would later on become sentences in the future. When I was just a kid, writing was something that was an art form for me. I think it was something on how one writes or their penmanship that I have found fascinating. People's penmanship is something that is eye catching for me like something that I do not see everyday. In this I will discussing about penmanship, my struggles, accomplishments, and my abilities as a writer, and conclude on what my future goals will be as a writer.
Penmanship:
Writing is an art form some people might say but it is something that one must have in this world. People 's penmanship comes in different forms basically it is how they write the words. Cursive is something that I was taught since I was young and it is an art form itself, but it is slowly dying in public schools. When I was in middle school and in high school, I wrote in cursive on all of my work and was asked by some of the teachers that I should write in print, because they can not read cursive. Since then I wrote in print and it actually looked illegible and looked like an elementary school kid wrote it. I remember that there was this one kid in my English two class who had such perfect penmanship which was in print and it actually looked like it was typed and the teacher asked him a lot of questions on why he typed his work and his written exams which to me was hilarious to watch and that sometimes I ask him if I can copy down his notes instead of writing down what the teacher put on the board because I was assigned to sit in the back of the class and the guy was sitting to my right. Penmanship is important for one's writing.

Struggles, Accomplishments, and abilities:
My struggles as a beginner writer is something that is difficult for me because I do not have an advance vocabulary like I should have. In high school on my junior year, my English three teacher taught us to have an advance vocabulary and how to use it in the correct way and how to say it in a sentence. He actually gave us words like abhor, aberration, acquiesce, circumspect, and many more. Another thing that I continuously struggled with was when to put a comma, semicolon, a dash, parentheses, and brackets in a sentence or a paragraph. Most of the time I used a guide to help figure out where I can put these punctuation at, so I can make my sentences flow and make other understand what i am writing about. The course itself is hard for me because it has things that I have never heard of like ethnology and autoethnology. I actually had to research the meaning of both words and had to find example of both from other people's works and sometimes my peers' work, so that I can get an understand of the subject and the project. One is struggling to do revision because sometimes I do not look what I write, not proof read, and not correcting typos in my essay like I should have, because of one reason that is that I do not read my work out loud like I should have. Reading out my work is something I should do on daily basis because I can spot out errors in my writing like what made sense in my writing, misspelling, and looking out for incomplete sentences in my work. Another thing that I have struggled with was timing and trying to find a place of silences so that I can gather my thoughts and not get distracted by my surroundings like mother talking so loudly on the phone or being annoyed by my dogs who would come up to me as I work. Timing is an issue for me because my computer is on timer that would go off at four in afternoon, there are times that I am working on a journal or a project that the computer shuts off immediately when it hits four and I have to start all over again which actually stresses me out from time to time.
My abilities as a writer is just a beginner because I do not write a lot but I do write short stories so I can create a comic for myself. I do not have an advance vocabulary like I should have, but I do read a lot of books that is in the young adult fiction that have some words that I heard in conversations or have seen in fiction books written by well known authors like Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Ernest Hemingway, Kurt Vonnegut, and Stephen King. Sometimes I look at my peer's comments to see what kind of words they use in the comments and in their projects, so that I can get an idea of what they are talking about and look up words that I never heard of before in my life. I can not give examples from peers since I can not take a snapshot of their work or comments that I use as examples .
Future Goals of being a Writer:
Well in the WPA goals, I still follow them as a guideline on my writing because there are some things that I still learn from them and understand. Some of the goals like Critical Thinking, Reading, and Composing, those are goals that I know how to do and understand because it was something that I was taught back in high school and taking notes in all four of my English classes actually paid off even though there were somethings that I had to learn. I think that this course actually helped me become a better writer or just learn the basics of writing itself.

Writing itself dates back to Mesopotamia from 3100 B.C, and Mesoamerica from 600 B.C, when they used pictographs and cuneiform as a written language. So writing is itself has exist for many years and that it has many systems of writing through out the world.

Writing Project 3: A Theory of Writing
Background and Overview
A “theory” is a system of explanation, a particular way of thinking that helps to explain phenomena in the world. As writers learn, work, and grow, many of us find it helpful to construct a “theory of writing”: a description of what we understand writing to be and how our own writing practices have worked in the past, currently work, and might work in the future.
or your third project—and as an important part of your final e-portfolio—you will have the opportunity to construct your own theory of writing as a way of helping you to chart, analyze, and enrich your own writing. This theory should be developed from your literacy practices throughout the course and beyond.
In this short essay, you will reflect on your development as a reader, writer, and critical thinker and explain how your learning has led you to a specific theory of writing. Your theory should be informed by your literacy practices and the learning outcomes of the course. It should also suggest how your prior experiences with writing will prepare you for successful engagement in future personal, academic, professional, and civic occasions for writing. Your reflection and theory of writing should be supported by concrete evidence (i.e. quotes, examples, screen shots, anecdotes, and/or other examples) from your own work and composing practices.

Requirements and Deliverables
- Your essay should include a thesis that makes a claim about what you understand the act of writing to be, and your essay should be organized in such a way that a reader can follow your thinking and reasoning from paragraph to paragraph and within each paragraph.
- Your theory of writing should illustrate your current struggles, accomplishments, and abilities as a reader, writer, and critical thinker.
- Your essay should relate your writing and your writing process to one bullet point of each of the four outcome areas of the “WPA Outcomes Statement” (i.e. “Rhetorical Knowledge,” “Critical Thinking, Reading, and Composing,” etc.). Additionally, you should discuss how you used one of the Habits of Mind from the “Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing” to achieve one or more of the WPA Outcomes.
- You should support your claims about writing with specific and concrete references to your own work (i.e. notes, process work, passages from your essays, project reflections, Writer’s Journals, feedback on your peer's work, etc.). This support might take the form of quotes, screenshots, excerpts, narrated examples, peer reviews, anecdotes, etc.
- Within your essay, you should not merely provide support; instead, you should explain what your support is support for and how that support works. In other words, as you offer evidence to your readers, make sure you explain what that evidence is meant to demonstrate or prove to them.
- Your theory of writing should conclude by suggesting how your growth as a reader, writer, and critical thinker throughout first-year composition prepares you for future personal, academic, and professional writing and research projects.
- You should include 2-3 multimodal elements such as photographs, hyperlinks to relevant materials, and so forth. You must make sure your reader understands why you are including these elements and why including them enriches your piece of writing. Since you will be making concrete references to your previous work, these multimodal elements could be the same multimodal elements that appeared in your other writing projects or assignments.
- Your completed essay should have a title and be approximately 1700 words in length.
