Note: *this is a late journal work that has not been turned in on time* Well when ever I am proofing my work, I can see that I made a lot of errors in my writing and sometimes misspell words that I should know and know how to spell. Sometimes I forget to proof my work before the final draft which I am stressed out or I freak out that the work is due tomorrow. Whenever I read someone's else writing, I compare them to mine and see I need to work with. What do you think about your peers’ responses to revision? How is your sense of the goals, purposes, and benefits of revision similar and/or different from your peers’? Why is this significant? All of my peer's responses to revision is correct because revision is actually an necessary tool in the writing process. Some of my peer's answers are somewhat like the text book definition while others come for what they think the word really means to them. The word itself is different to many people because it can have the same meaning but totally different answer entirely.
This is significant because revision is important in the my writing process. I get confused when I start to read what I wrote out loud because I can my mistakes in my grammar and sentence structure. I actually expected some examples of revised written essays in this class. I guess that revision is something help for one who wants to make sure that everything in their writing is correct. After going to the park on Saturday, I interviewed my mother and my cousin about why they go to the park everyday. As for this project, I had a short interview with my cousin because he had to go to work that day. On the other hand I did not know anyone at the park because there are many different people who go there and that I feel unconformable when talking to someone that I am not familiar with. September 11, 2016: It was a sunny day at the park for were I went to greet my cousin at the park. Here's how the interview went: Interview with my cousin: My cousin is 26 years old and he like to work out at park or at the gym. Hello my name is Daniel, I like to work out just to get in shape and have time to hang out with my cousins here at the park. I enjoy working out because it build muscles and helps get myself in shape since I eat a lot of food. I am more of an outdoors person and so being that we are at the park, I love to go jogging and play football here. What is so interesting here in the public park? Well for one, I play football with some kids as I was going for a run . Another is that it is a nice day being out here and that I like to go people watching as they pass by me. How come not come here in the morning instead of the afternoon? Well one thing even though it is cooler in the morning, I would see a few people jog and run but then they would go and that it would be completely deserted in the morning. How do you feel about people bringing in their pets here at the park? Well for one people here bring their pets just to give them exercise and themselves exercise. Most time people there are responsible with their pets, but there are some that would let their pets run loose and cause some sort of trouble. Beside all of that why is the park a place where people can hang out and be social? Well I think that the park is where people interact with each other by talking to each out at the picnic tables, a place where people can bring their pets. People can bring their children as an excuse for them to have family time and the other is that people can have fun out here instead of being cooped up at home where you can have the worries of doing work. After that question, he told me that he had to go and get ready for work. He gave me this reason before he left. Hey the park is a fun place to have a get together and an area to hangout with friends. That is why I love hanging out at the park with my family, pets and friends. For field notes, I take pictures on where I go and visit. Basically, I bringing a journal is to much to take along with me because my mother and I go to public places and people might look at me like I am the one prying into their lives.
The one place that I usually hanged out at was at this park which is across this busy street from my neighborhood. Most of the time the park would be filled with all kinds of people from joggers, kids would practice baseball, football, and soccer, to people who just want to have lunch there and walk their dogs. Field notes: See : people bringing their children and pets. Weather is sunny with clouds and this summer heat that is unbearable when the time is from ten to three. There is a soccer field and a baseball field that is trimmed and groomed by the people who work there. There are two play grounds and one has a tent over it while the other has none. You could see a water park that is part of the park itself. You can see a busy highway and a neighborhood. Hear: chattering and laughter, barking from the dogs, the sound of bike passing me, music playing from people's phones, the dribbling of a basketball, the sound of running shoes, people at a baseball game or a soccer game yelling and cheering, sometimes you would hear the whistle blow in the middle of the game, cars passing by and the occasional ice cream truck with it's tune to get it's customers to buy ice cream on a hot day. smell: there would be the smell of someone barbecuing near the playground, the smell of sweat people who jog right past you , and of course the smell of chlorine when you are near the water park. taste: none Touch: the smooth surface of plastic swing, the hard and gritty sidewalk, and the rubber benches' smooth surface as you sit down. How do people move through the place? How do they help to define the space? They would drive to the park if they live far while others would walk from their neighborhood to get there. Describe the actions of the people in the place. What are they doing? The people at the park would usually go walking, jogging , running and mostly everyone like to hang out there on good sunny day. Parents who bring their kids would usually go to the playground and would watch their kids play. Are they greeting each other in particular ways? Not really that I have notice when I go there,, What else jumps out at you as you observe people in this space? Some of the people there would just go just to hangout or to go to the Sonic fast food restaruant that is near the park. I chose the photo about of a child's sleeping place from Tokyo, Japan
Description of the room( no judgement or analysis):
There was this school that I attended that was built in the seventies. It was this large building that is two stories with a gym and a cafeteria. There are about two hundred and 60 rooms not including the portable class rooms, which would make it three hundred and sixteen. There are several stairwell through out the school. Some are just hidden in plain sight while others lead to different places like the gym and the band room.
During the school year, the hallways are crowed with kids that is more than the school suppose to occupy because of school zones. There are a lot of lockers that are not used and most look brand new with fresh paint on it. The lockers on the bottom are used by the lower class men like the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, the seniors have no lockers, but sometimes seniors use their friend's locker as storage. Mostly when you look some of the class rooms, some of them are falling apart and some look brand new. The teachers there have never stay because sometimes they move to other schools and some actually stayed for like ten years. There were three teachers that taught at this school for twenty years and still teach now. Well this seems like time for me to go back to school, I mean get ready for College and get a job. How is your position in your community (e.g., youth, leader, worker) influenced by the place where you live, work, relax? Actually I do not know my position in my community at all, because mostly I stay at home with my mother since they want me close to them and that my family can not afford to send me to college yet. I do watch our home when she is working at the hospital as a nurse. Are there places/spaces you are not allowed to enter or participate? Why? Well it would be bars and clubs since my parents do not allow it and that I am not eligible to join or at the right age. Do your friends, family, and co-workers have access to different places than you? Not really except my mother's room and sometimes the guest room. What spaces are private and what spaces are public? The private places in the house would be my room and my mother's room. The living room and the kitchen are the only places where our guest can hangout at. Part II: Design a collage, find, or draw images reflective of your position within the community.

How might this become less challenging, confusing, or frustrating in future projects? I found it frustrating and confusing because it took sometime to do research and that I had to look at examples of the project at hand. It was my first time writing and doing such project . - What—for you—seems to be the most critical or important part of the writing process at this point? Where do you feel you learned the most about your own writing process? Was it before you wrote the project, while you were writing the sentences and paragraphs, or was it in the post-writing revision practices? It was when I was writing the paragraphs that I learn my own writing process. - If you were invited to teach someone else something about writing tomorrow, what would it be and why? I think it would be about the paranormal because it seems interesting and it is much of the great of great unknown. Many people are superstitious when it come to something paranormal and I always wonder why people are scare when it comes to something that is just a plain urban legend to something like the ouija board. |
